Kathy and I, David Baez, emigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream, leaving behind our loved ones to start anew in Sunrise, Florida. Like many immigrants, we couldn’t continue our professional careers in International Commerce and Business Administration, despite years of experience. Instead, we began working across various fields, including building construction, cleaning, and property maintenance services—gaining hands-on expertise that later inspired us to build a trusted, service-driven business rooted in hard work and dedication.
After gaining experience, I joined Environ Condominiums II in Lauderhill, Florida, as Maintenance Support and was quickly promoted to Chief Maintenance Manager of its 8-building property. I also worked nights in construction and performed repairs for residents. Meanwhile, Kathy worked independently providing maid services, earning trust through quality and attention to detail. Her excellent customer service led to over 40 loyal clients, many of whom remained with her for more than 12 years.
We officially founded our first family business, K&D Cleaning and Maintenance Services, Inc., with a clear mission: to deliver personalized, high-quality service with attention to details overlooked by others due to poor supervision. Recognizing that our success stemmed from customer care and excellence, we built the company on strong pillars rooted in family values and a culture of commitment—establishing a service philosophy that set us apart in the cleaning and maintenance industry.
We expanded our services to meet clients’ growing needs for on-demand repairs and custom solutions within shrinking budgets. Along the way, we identified ways to improve the industry: adopting higher-quality products, refining procedures, and investing in new equipment to protect our team’s health and well-being. We emphasized doing things right—with care and precision—and nurtured a strong sense of teamwork rooted in our family business culture.
During a national economic crisis, we knew we had to evolve to stay competitive. After analyzing the market, we expanded our condominium maintenance services into new sectors. We entered Foreclosure Cleanup and REO Property Preservation, later offering tailored services for Government Buildings, Clinics, Schools, and Retail Stores. This strategic diversification allowed us to meet broader market needs and strengthen the company.
K&D Cleaning & Maintenance Services Inc. evolved into K&D Service Group, expanding through strategic alliances in plumbing, electricity, carpentry, roofing, and remodeling. The company was restructured into two business units: Commercial – Building Maintenance and Residential – Home Improvements.
Despite ongoing economic challenges, K&D Service Group continued to grow by embracing technology and modernizing operations. We strengthened long-term client relationships, attracted new ones, and elevated service standards through innovation and improved methodologies.
To lead the industry’s evolution, K&D Service Group is investing in real-time monitoring tools and digital solutions. We are developing web and mobile applications, together with the K&D Service 360 platform, to optimize communication, service quality, reporting, and client interaction.
